Our Story

In 1991, Malinda Margiotta recognized the need for major changes in the way children were cared for in the US, and she rose to the challenge. She designed and built a state-of-the-art facility, compiled a staff of quality professionals led by a fabulous management team, and ABC Childcare Center was born. Ms. Malinda built a lasting legacy in the childcare world and is considered by many to have raised the bar for quality childcare in the nation.

In 2004, ABC’s second location in Lake Harveston, ABC Childcare Village, opened! ABC Childcare Village is operated by Ms. Angel and Mr. Shawn.

In the beginning of 2020, Ms. Malinda retired and Ms. Angel and Mr. Shawn now operate both locations! Angel and Shawn continue the legacy of high quality childcare and commitment to excellence that ABC has always been known for.

The ABC difference is tangible when you walk through our doors and in the day to day operations. Come in to tour and meet any of our teachers or admin staff and you will see the hearts of Ms. Angel and Mr. Shawn reflected. Check out our classrooms and age specific play yards and you will see our commitment to fostering a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for every child in our care. Attend one of our special events and see how we teach a true love of learning! Follow us on social media and see that #ABCcares, about you, your kids, our staff, and our community!

Something else that sets ABC apart is our accreditation through the NAEYC. ABC was one of the first and largest centers in Southern California to be accredited. We were also the first and one of the only centers to implement a mildly ill care room, our Chicken Soup Room! We have some of the lowest teacher to child ratios in the area, and we have staff members that have been with us for decades! One pointed out that “Loyalty breeds loyalty, Malinda and Angel are always striving to do what’s best for not only the children but the staff and families as well.”
